Old Town Cocktail Week 2022

Old Town Alexandria has a vivacious and growing craft cocktail community that has caught the eye of the press and locals alike. To celebrate and honor the talent of the bartenders and businesses that support such cocktail innovation, Old Town Business has taken it upon themselves to establish Old Town Cocktail: the celebration of all things cocktail.

Throughout Old Town Cocktail Week there will be seminars, themed events, and celebrations to engage with local establishments and the ever-growing cocktail culture.

Each year Old Town Business will continually grow and evolve the events that will be held to reflect the cocktail community here in Old Town, Alexandria.

Art on the Rocks at Waterfront Park

with The Art League

The kick-off event that everyone loves! Join the Art League from 5-8 pm in tasting cocktail creations and small bites crafted by competing bartenders from favorite local establishments.

The Late Shift: Heritage

at the Torpedo Factory Art Center

Enjoy specialty-themed “Heritage” cocktails at the bar in the spirit of the event – choose from Ethiopian Tej (honey wine) and Salvadoran Horchata with or without coffee (non-alcoholic).

September is a special month for two diverse communities in Alexandria. September 11 is the celebration of Enkutatash (Ethiopian New Year) in the Ethiopian community, a large population in Alexandria’s West End. September 15 is the start of Hispanic Heritage Month honoring the Latin American community, a vibrant population comprising a vital part of Alexandria’s Arlandria neighborhood. Celebrate the contributions of both communities to the growing arts and culture tapestry of Alexandria with a night of music, hands-on activities, and art. Plus: Join us in the 3rd Floor lounge for a ticketed poetry slam with KaNikki Jakarta and other poets.

Virtual Happy Hour

With recent global events, Old Town Business, much like the rest of the world, pivoted our attention from a week long celebration of cocktails in 2020 to the virtual scene by introducing Old Town Cocktail | Virtual Happy Hour. Here, you get to participate in crafting a special cocktail led by one of Old Town’s talented bartenders; then you get to hear from them, a retail guest, and a spirits expert that creates the spirit used in your drink!

Get your to-go cocktail ahead of time from the featured restaurant to craft your cocktail at home that day. We will post them here so you can craft all your favorite cocktails any time! Cheers!
