First Night Alexandria

About this Event

First Night Alexandria, the largest family-friendly and affordable New Year’s Eve Festival of Music and More event in the region, returns as a celebration showcasing performing arts throughout Old Town in the City of Alexandria. The annual event (in its 29th year) takes place on Sunday, December 31, and will feature a variety of activities, activations, dance parties, live music and more. Museums, churches, retail stores, hotels, and public buildings are turned into performance venues to showcase a variety of talent. The festivities kick off at 2:00PM, pause at 6PM for a family -inspired Fireworks display and concludes at midnight as the community welcomes in the New Year.

FNA All- Access (Activities from 2:00PM-11:00PM)

• Ages 20-64 $35
• Ages 65+ $20

DONATIONS ARE WELCOMED: A portion of the proceeds are used to benefit Alexandria’s Middle and High School.  We welcome your additional donation to support our rising performing artists.

ALL TICKETS ARE NON-REFUNDABLE, BUT FULLY TRANSFERABLE TO ANOTHER PERSON FOR THE 2023 EVENT ONLY.

PERFORMANCES

First Night Alexandria showcases the performing arts by giving exposure to new artists, rising stars, and seasoned professionals to expand their audience. We are committed to diversity in our line-up and seek to expand cultural awareness and experience all year-round!

Pre-Fireworks Block Party at Market Square 301 King St.(OUTSIDE)

• 4:00PM – 6:00PM – Live DJ, Dancing, demonstrations, giveaways

PLANNING TIP: Carefully review the times and locations of your preferred performances and map out your day for maximum enjoyment. Don’t forget to plan meal breaks!

VENUES

Through the collaborative support of churches, museums, retail establishments, libraries, private clubs, buildings and offices, recreation centers, city-owned facilities, theaters, and hotels, doors are opened as these locations become venues to enjoy artistic expression. All FNA Matinee and Prime Time performances are indoors. The venues are walkable and within a maximum distance – river to rail – 1 mile. Stroll through Old Town and enjoy various performances!

Park your vehicle closest to where you plan to end the evening for the best experience in managing crowds.
